FOUNDING PARTNER MODERATES THIRD ANNUAL PITTSBURGH FINANCIAL SERVICES SYMPOSIUM
Partner G. Philip Rutledge moderated a panel entitled “Topical Issues in Financial Services” at the 3rd Annual Pittsburgh Financial Services Symposium sponsored by the Greater Pittsburgh Compliance Roundtable on October 5, 2012 at the Pittsburgh Renaissance Hotel, Pittsburgh, PA. Later that day, he was a judge for “The Great Case” which is a student competition organized by the Katz Business School of the University of Pittsburgh for Pittsburgh area law students and graduate business students to argue and debate a fictional case involving legal and business ethical issues.

FOUNDING PARTNER PARTICPATES IN PRACTISING LAW INSTITUTE SEMINAR
On Monday, June 25, 2012, Philip Rutledge participated in the Practising Law Institute’s “Fundamentals of Broker-Dealer Regulation 2012” in New York, NY where he made a presentation concerning “State Regulation of Broker-Dealers.”
Mr. Rutledge is the immediate past Chief Counsel of the Pennsylvania Securities Commission and is a nationally recognized expert in state securities laws and their application to broker-dealers, agents, investment advisers and investment adviser representatives. He has represented a number of national and international brokerage firms in connection with proceedings involving state securities regulators.

PARTNER ADMITTED AS LIVERYMAN IN THE WORSHIPFUL COMPANY OF PATTENMAKERS
On March 24, 2011, Partner G. Philip Rutledge was admitted as a Liveryman in the Worshipful Company of Pattenmakers at a ceremony held in the ancient Ironmongers’ Hall, City of London. The Pattenmakers is an ancient livery company of the City of London formed in the 14th century and whose membership is restricted by a royal charter granted in the 17th century. Today, the Pattenmakers sponsor a number of charitable organizations in the City of London. Membership consists of those who are deemed to have made significant contributions to the business, educational and cultural institutions of the City of London.

In January 2009, SNL Financial, an authoritative industry guide to mergers and acquisitions in the financial services sector, ranked Bybel Rutledge LLP #1 in the number of mergers in the Mid-Atlantic region for 2008 with a total deal value of $216 million.
Nationally, Bybel Rutledge LLP ranked 18th out of 120 law firms advising on financial institution mergers. Our 2008 national ranking jumped 59 places from our 2007 ranking.
FOUNDING PARTNER RECEIVES FREEDOM OF THE CITY OF LONDON
In January 2009, G. Philip Rutledge was admitted to the Freedom of the City of London in the Worshipful Company of Pattenmakers. According to the immediate past master of the Pattenmakers, Rutledge is the first American to gain admission to this company which was incorporated in the 15th century, received a Royal Charter in 1670 and was granted status as a Livery Company in 1717.
This admission reflects upon Mr. Rutledge’s extensive international legal experience which recently was called upon in context of preparing a report for the European Commission on the penetration of retail banking in the European Union by criminal organizations and discussions concerning creation of a single financial services market and regulatory system for the English-speaking Caribbean countries.
